The Zephyr Innovation Incubator Program at MLS is spotlighting innovative services and programs in the MLS member libraries. Please let us know what you are doing to create more innovative responses to your users’ needs! Email Kathryn Deiss at deissk@mls.lib.il.us

We are delighted to spotlight the Thomas Ford Memorial Library for its innovative Click-a-Story Program, a web-delivered story time program (http://www.fordlibrary.org/clickastory/) and for its cutting edge use of MySpace (a web space for socializing) for teens. See: www.MySpace.com/ThomasFord

These two innovative uses of web space engage users in new ways and present us with different models for delivering services.

Zephyr applauds Thomas Ford Memorial Library director, Anne Kozak, and her dynamic staff for these innovations!

Welcome to Zephyr Innovation!

Welcome to my Zephyr Innovation blog. This is intended to serve as a “day trip” into the worlds of creativity and innovation — with a special focus on libraries and non-profits.

With undying faith in the scope and power of human creativity, I hope to point to some interesting resources, projects, best practices, and prototyping happening in libraries. During my years as a library consultant and facilitator I have observed highly creative people and organizations, however these people tell me how difficult it is to spend time on innovation due to the press of today’s work (and sometimes yesterday’s work!).

I hope to be able to provide little “day trips” into work that is innovative or is about the innovative. Join me on these forays and bring your ideas and experiences to others.
