Lansing Public Library a Sirsi-Dynix Innovation Award Finalist

Zephyr congratulates Lansing (IL) Public Library on its nomination for the SirsiDynix Building Better Communities Award. Award winners were announced at the American Library Association Annual Conference in New Orleans on June 24, 2006. The four winners received cash awards of $10,000.

Lansing Public Libray is one of fifteen nominees for this innovation award. The fifteen finalists were chosen from among 130 by twelve judges and an advisorl Congratulations on the nomination Lansing P.L.! And a special congratulations to Kelli Staley who spear-headed the projects for which Lansing has been nominated.

The MLS Zephyr Innovation Incubator applauds the innovative funding and technology application for library user podcast downloading at Lansing Public Library.

Lansing Public Library received support from its friends group to offer a library-branded version of Juice, podcasting software.Lansing Public Library’s branded version can be downloaded by library users and it comes with the Library’s podcasts ready to listen to.

We are delighted to spotlight the Thomas Ford Memorial Library for its innovative Click-a-Story Program, a web-delivered story time program (http://www.fordlibrary.org/clickastory/) and for its cutting edge use of MySpace (a web space for socializing) for teens. See: www.MySpace.com/ThomasFord

These two innovative uses of web space engage users in new ways and present us with different models for delivering services.
